Laura Zaino will teach a workshop on growing garlic on Saturday, Oct. 24th from 1 – 3 pm (rain date: Oct 25th). The workshop will be held at her place (43 Peggy Circle, Port Matilda, Pa 16870).
Laura will describe the process of soil preparation, planting, growing, and harvesting garlic. Laura will discuss organic growing methods. She’ll also cover information of different varieties of garlic and will provide ideas on how to use garlic. Each person will also receive a head of garlic to take home and plant (or eat).
This is a hand-on workshop and participants will have the opportunity to help prepare the garlic, plant it, and cover/mulch it. Work clothes, gardening gloves, and old shoes (or rubber boots) are the order of the day.
There is a $12 sliding scale registration fee for the workshop. To register or for more information call Josh Lambert (814-237-0996) or send an email.
