Friends Garden Update

Many thanks to Jackie Bonomo, Josh Lambert, Gary Fosmire, Kevin Gombotz and Jesssica Arends for helping at last Saturday’s Friends Meeting House Community Garden workday. Together, we finished mulching the lower section, including the unrolling of the ginormous switchgrass bales.

Next step – fencing the garden and installing the gates!

Gardens at the Discovery Space of Central PA

There was a little blurb on Wednesday in the Centre Daily Times about the new learning gardens built at the children’s museum in downtown State College. Organizer Margaret Roof thanked Master Gardeners, Home Depot, and Discovery Space volunteers for their work installing several beds demonstrating Native American crops, pollinator gardens, a “salsa” garden, and other themes. Very cool.

Juneberries Ripe for the Gleaning

Here are some Juneberry recipes – for pies, cakes, muffins and so forth. Most seem to call for roughly two cups of berries.
