Action alert from Bob Baillie:
There will be a “Where Are the Jobs?” rally outside of Congressman Glenn Thompson’s office on Wednesday, August 10, at 12:15 pm.
There is a silent epidemic afflicting our neighbors, families, and friends. It leaves in its wake poverty, hunger, homelessness, despair, and crime. That epidemic is year after year of unemployment, affecting one in 10 Americans.
It is time, it is way past time, that we put an end to this scourge by speaking out, by telling our stories, and by helping those who represent us understand that this is the most serious problem we face.
The American people want Congress to focus on jobs. But Congress isn’t listening. Let’s send them a message that they cannot help but hear! Also, we would especially like to extend an invitation to people who are currently unemployed to come and share their experiences.
The local event is sponsored by MoveOn.org of Centre County. Similar events will take place on August 10 at Congresspeople’s offices around the country, sponsored by MoveOn.org.
LOCATION: Thompson’s office is in the Centre County Mutual Insurance building at 3555 Benner Pike. This is at the corner of Benner Pike and Stonecrest. There is a traffic light at that intersection.
