Ralph Borsodi and Education Seminar: Three of Seventeen Problems
July 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. and July 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Ahimsa Village in Julian, PA. Seminar Leader: Bill Sharp
Confused about how to solve the dilemmas of our current society? Interested in re-examining the fundamental problems of living and what constitutes a “good life?”
This seminar will focus on some of the ideas that created the School of Living. It will be an interactive seminar. Through much of his life Borsodi focused on the major problems of living as an outline for education. In 1968, he published a Seventeen Problems of Man and Society. In this seminar we will touch on problems 1, 5, and 10. Copies of them can be found online here. We will explore how Borsodi’s ideas reflect on the questions and problems we face today, and begin to draw on the lifetime of work he gave us about how to resolve these problems.
- July 23 – Introductions, overview on Borsodi’s vision of education, brief meditation, Problem 10 (Occupations) dinner, entertainment (looking for volunteers) and socializing.
- July 24 – Problem 5 (Values) and Problem 1 (What’s life all about?) What we have learned?
