Fertile Grounds CSA Events in Noxen

Fertile Grounds CSA in Noxen (Wyoming County) announces upcoming events:

March 27 at Noon – Seedling Planting Workday

Join us in our greenhouse to begin planting the Solanaceae Family (eggplants, peppers, tomatoes & tomatillos) or help transplant the baby lettuce, arugula, and mustard green seedlings who are already growing larger by the day! Don’t let the yucky weather deter you. The greenhouse is warm and cozy and the views are incredible. Meet in the Noxen Food Mart parking lot (3592 State Route 29 S, Noxen, PA 18636) at noon. We’ll meet you there and lead you the rest of the way. We’ll come by again at 12:30 to fetch any latecomers…Wear mud boots! clothes for getting dirty! layers! It may be cold outside but can get steamy in the greenhouse. RSVP: fertile.grounds.csa@gmail.com

April 13, 7:30 p.m. – What is Community Supported Agriculture?

Join us at The Lands at Hillside Farms Education Center (Shavertown, Luzerne County). Munch on Fertile Grounds’ early spring salad & join us for a panel & discussion on local movements toward a food system that is eco-friendly and accessible to all! Speakers include Deb Shoval, Fertile Grounds Farm, Noxen; Megan Boone, Wilkes U Community Service Coordinator, Wilkes-Barre; and Doug Ayers, The Lands at Hillside Farms. All are welcome. RSVP: fertile.grounds.csa@gmail.com to reserve a seat & a salad!

Directions to the Hillside Farms Education Center: From the Hillside Farms Dairy Store (65 Hillside Road, Shavertown), make a right out of the parking lot. Turn right at the next street, Church Street, and make an immediate left up a dirt road/driveway. (It looks like you are driving up to a cow pasture – you are!). The Education Center is at the end of that dirt road/driveway.
