State Theatre workshop series:
Building on the overwhelming interest generated by our January 19 screening of the provocative movie Forks Over Knives, and as part of our mission to educate and enrich our community, The State Theatre has invited Kathy Pollard, owner and facilitator of the Wellness Forum in State college, to teach Wellness 101, a course empowering individuals to achieve and maintain optimal health, based on the tenets of plant-based nutrition highlighted in the film.
Wellness 101 is a ten-hour course in 4 sessions teaching the skills necessary to practice dietary excellence and optimal habits, as well as the science that explains it. You’ve gotten an introduction to it from the film, by the leading researchers in this field, and this course is based on that overwhelming research demonstrating that diets based on whole, plant foods improves health, encourages weight loss, controls blood pressure and cholesterol levels, increases energy and fights the many common conditions that we live with and die from in our society – including cardiovascular disease, many cancers, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and more. Taking control of our health starts with understanding these principles, and this gives us the power to change our habits. So we invite you to take this opportunity to learn the skills needed to make a meaningful change.
