News from Creation Care Coalition

From Sylvia Neely,  Creation Care Coalition and PA-IPL:

Two items of interest:

1. In February Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light, in conjunction with the national “preach-in” on global warming, sponsored a letter-writing campaign asking our senators to support legislation addressing climate change and to assure that EPA would continue to have authority to regulate pollutants and green-house gas emissions. A member of PA IPL, Joy Bergey of Philadelphia, hand delivered to the senators’ offices in Washington over 300 letters from people of faith in Pennsylvania. Since then, she has continued to receive signed letters. We intend to deliver another batch of these letters to the senators’ offices in Pennsylvania.

So if you missed out the first time around, you have another chance to sign this letter. Click here to link to the letter. Print it off and send it to me at the following address: Sylvia Neely, 109 Oak Pointe Circle, State College, PA 16801.

If you get these to me by Thursday, March 10, we will add them to the stack of letters that we deliver to Sen. Casey’s office in Bellefonte. We will also make copies so that the letters can be delivered as well to Sen. Toomey’s office. Please forward this message to your friends urging them to sign on. Print off some copies and ask people to sign them.

2. GreenFaith, an interfaith coalition for the environment, offers a Fellowship Program that prepares lay and ordained leaders from diverse religious traditions for religiously based environmental leadership. Please take a moment to look at a description of their highly recommended program and consider applying (Click here). They will be accepting applications through May 2.
